Come and follow me!
But don't follow him thinking only of yourself, even though you will be the one to receive the reward. Don't forget what he said: “Whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will find it.” Mark 8:35. “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Mark 8:34. Renunciation, giving, self-denial, gratitude, service—all these are required of those who have been rescued from the darkness of sin and from the law of sin and death. It is not to live serving just anyone, but the divine family. So that, in the separation of the sheep from the goats, you may hear this blessed call: “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Then you will say, 'When did we do this to you? And He will say, 'When you did it to one of these little ones, you did it to me. Then you will go to eternal rest. Matthew 25:34-40. This is not our rest. Because there is no rest in times of war.
