According to a scientific thesis, “two things cannot occupy the same place in space at the same time.” This is also true in psychological terms. Let's look at how this works.

We live in an age of information overload. Literary material has been produced for all tastes, both good and bad. So there is a need to select what is useful and reject what is not suitable.

The problem is that the enemy of our souls, knowing the tendency of human beings, takes advantage of this to lead them to do what pleases each one. Thus, he, the enemy, does not need to exert much effort to induce humans to follow the path of no return, the path of perdition.

Speaking of literary taste, some people like western magazines, others like novels, others like detective stories; and everyone has their preferences and tastes. But what practical benefit is there in them?

The apostle Paul commands his disciple Timothy, “CONTINUE IN YOUR READING, so that your progress may be evident to all.” But read what?

What can give knowledge about how to attain eternal life and also please the creator of all good things? The Bible and things related to the knowledge of God.

But even among them, there are many things that are permeated with rubbish, as Paul said, which he rejected as worthless, and which can also be biased, according to human concepts and prejudices. These are the so-called “guesswork.”

That is why it is necessary for us to do as the psalmist did, which is to ask God to “open our eyes to the wonders of God's law.” Because it is wonderful, just as God is.

Because everything passes, and life goes away and death comes; and it may come sooner than expected. And what was a source of satisfaction and pastime will be worthless on the day of reckoning, the final judgment.

Therefore, it is advisable to review tastes and tendencies, rejecting and selecting what is useful from what is trash, so as not to be suffocated by its toxic gases.
